The Thanksgiving Interview - AT LAST!

For those of you waiting - here is the long anticipated interview with my sister (AKA: Big T) who, very creatively, in an effort to have an "American Thanksgiving" in Northern Ireland, wound up purchasing much of the coveted items from .....
eBay.
Here's how the story went:
little t: What's was on your menu?
Big T: Well the menu was put together purely to give my kids a taste of the Thanksgiving we grew up with. So I really wanted it to taste like that...and that wasn't easy, cause I needed LOADS of American food. The menu was Turkey and dressing, cranberry sauce, sweet potato casserole, broccoli casserole, mandarin orange congealed salad, corn pudding, corn bread and rolls, a fresh vegetable platter, sweet and unsweet tea and cranberry punch...then for dessert.....pumpkin pie, Lemon Meringue Pie and Cherry Pie with Ice cream and whipped cream.

(the feast and the table - complete with hand traced turkeys!)

little t: Wow - that's a pretty ambitious menu for an American in the UK...

Big T: So, some of the things were hard to come by here - so I went on eBay...

little t: eBay? (laughing) seriously?
Big T: yeah - and I kept getting out bid for cans of Libby's pumpkin and other things...
little t: (laughing hysterically) - this is the funniest thing I've ever heard of! Ok so what did you finally end up winning on eBay?
Big T: Well, let's see, I had to buy the corn bread mix and Cornmeal Stove Top stuffing, orange Jello.....and the hardest one to get....canned pumpkin!
little t: I just can't believe you actually could bid on that stuff! How much did you have to pay for pumpkin?
Big T: I wound up paying over £4 a can....so that's over $6.50 for each can
little t: WHAT? It's like a buck 50 here! (laughing) that's crazy! Where did the pumpkin come from?
Big T: I got it from a Deli in London that specialized in American food.
little t: This is completely nuts. So, would you recommend an eBay Thanksgiving?
Big T: I totally recommend it. We had an amazing meal and it wouldn't have been the same had I tried to make the tastes fit with stuff from the UK. We had guests from England that week...who had just gotten engaged....so it was a really fun celebration for them too. They LOVED it and said they want to come every year! Overall, I loved making a real Thanksgiving happen for my family...and I couldn't have done it without eBay.......whod've thunk I would've ever said that??

(Elena and Aidan with Tori and friends Jonny and Nae)
So there you have it - straight from my sister - and now you know why I've always wanted to be her! :)

If that's not an ebay commercial waiting to happen, I don't know what is! You've got to send that in somewhere!
