My children were held by Abby Wambach, had their hair ruffled by Hope Solo and had endless chats with players whose accolades go on and on and on. I've never been so proud and humbled all at the same time. It was quite a ride. My heart is so full of memories and my mind of images that I know I will carry them for a lifetime. (I've got stories and pictures coming!)
Ethan (his all access pass) and some of his favorites - Amy Rodriguez, Tobin Heath, and Lauren Cheney
A few days after their arrival in Charleston, Greg called from their hotel and said, that due to a series of events, they needed help with their laundry. So, I found myself folding clothes for the US Women's National Soccer Team. Yep. Doing laundry for "America's Darlings". (Now don't get me wrong - I mean that in the MOST respectful way and I was HONORED to do it... and I don't mean that in any negative way either...they really are sweet ladies and America LOVES them... BUT any of those darlings could take me at any minute and not think twice, you know what I mean?! :)
So - I delivered laundry and a few loaves of zucchini bread to "the girls" (as they are known around here) just before the big game. I guess I've always been, and will always be, a soccer mom, but that day was one of those days that I held my ponytail-wearing-Starbucks-drinking-station-wagon-driving-self a little bit differently knowing, in a microscopic way, I helped "America's Darlings" look good and officially became a soccer mom on a whole 'nutha level.

Your title? Hysterical! But so apropos! What an honor! Seriously. And by the way, the Richmond metro area is passing around T's zucchini bread recipe like it's going out of style. ;-)
Oh my gosh, Tara!! What a cool story. I love it - the hands and feet of Jesus, ministering to the US Women's Soccer team!! How cool is that!!?!!
Thanks for taking my mind off of the not-so-fun reality around here this week.
I love you,
