The day I drank an entire cup of coffee without it getting cold...

If any of you out there are mothers, (by the way, you rock - and don't let anyone ever tell you differently) and are coffee drinkers, you understand the value of being able to, in one sitting, drink a full cup of hot coffee. I can't tell you how many times I have poured the perfect cup and then 3 hours later, find it sitting in some obscure place with only two sips taken out. Life happens - and it happens FAST when you've got little people in your house. I just wanted to say that on Saturday, my precious boys let me sleep until 8:30 and then brought me coffee in bed - they told me they loved me and then they LEFT and I got to drink the WHOLE CUP HOT!! I sat quietly, ALONE, in my bedroom and drank in, literally and figuratively, the preciousness of the moment. Since Sundays are a work day for me, the boys were giving me Mother's Day early - and not just a day, but what a weekend it turned out to be! Here are the highlights:
  • drank an entire cup of hot coffee served in bed in my favorite Hawaii mug
  • slept until 8:30 (WHAT??!! I have children!!!)
  • went to a picnic to celebrate a friend coming home from Afghanistan - been gone 18mos.
  • got to sing about being a mom at church on Sat. PM, Sun. AM and Sun. PM
  • held my baby who was burning up with fever and remember never feeling more like a mom
  • had dinner, thoughtful and funny gifts and cards waiting on me when I got home from church
  • my sweet Ethan fixed lunch for everyone on Sunday afternoon all by himself- ham and cheese sandwiches... the best I've ever had. He said I had to "get out of the kitchen - it's your special day and I'm fixing lunch!"
  • my husband cleaned the entire house
  • got to watch my boys play in the yard while sitting on the back porch ENJOYING ANOTHER CUP OF HOT COFFEE!!!
  • received flowers from some precious family friends
  • went out to dinner after church on Sunday evening - I haven't cooked in DAYS!!
  • came home, Greg put the boys to bed and I got to relax the rest of the evening

Now THAT'S what I call a Mother's Day. Thanks, boys. This mommy will never forget it.

As if I hadn't been teary enough of the past few days.....reading this entry made me choke up! Boys are WONDERFUL. We have GOT to get your sweet Ethan and my Braeden together to play. He sounds like someone I would love to have around my boys. Mikey would also love to meet Brody. You sang beautifully at church! What a talent you truly have!
