OK - before you start laughing - or before you start asking -
No. It wasn't the turkey.
Yes. Everyone is all right.
On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, we were getting ready to sit outside by mom and dad's pool and enjoy a cozy fire at their fire table. (It's a table that has gas logs in the middle - sit around - roast marshmallows - get toasty - you get the picture.) Unknown to us, the propane tank under the table was faulty... had a hole in the spout where it connected to the table, and when we lit the fire the WHOLE THING caught fire. Not just the gas logs... the entire table, under the table, the tank, everything!
The kids (and the puppy) were in the pool, just feet away, and between Dad, Greg, me, Mom and Jen - we got everyone safely out of the house and the fire out. But it was big, and it was scary...
The fire department came (of course we called 911) and so the children got to climb all over the firetruck and meet real live fire men. Having that positive experience was the only thing that kept them both from breaking down - thank you, Lord.
We're so grateful that God protected mom and dad's house, Greg and Dad as they fought the fire, and all of us... it could have been so terrible.
The only casualty was the table (toast) and Greg's Blackberry (also toast). Both replaceable. The moral to the story - make sure you have fire extinguishers in your house and make sure they are working. :)

Oh dear! Glad everyone is ok. And you are right about the extinguishers. We always talk about getting one and haven't yet. I will tell the tale so we can get one!
