Lexi girl...

The story starts a year ago.

Greg gave me my Jasper puppy (Yorkshire Terrier) after being a "dog free" family for 3 years.  Being sans dog was completely my doing.  We had a lab retriever when I was pregnant with Brody... but the fur and the barking and the fur and the barking was more than I could handle, and so we gave him to a loving family and I vowed, to the great sadness of my husband, that I wouldn't have a dog until the baby I was carrying was three years old.

Two weeks shy of Brody's third birthday, I saw a lovely lady walking her tiny Yorkie at the beach... It was then I knew I was in trouble.  Within a month, and due to my radical change in heart about 4 legged animals, Greg preciously and graciously surrendered his desire to have a "big dog" and he gave me Jasper.

Within a month of having him, I was DESPERATE for another one!  I began to contact Jasper's breeder to say if she decided to breed the mother again, to let us know, because we would love to have a little girl.  A year went by.  I had days when I could convince Greg it was a good idea, and days when he convinced me it wasn't.

Just before my birthday this year, Greg, unbeknownst to me, had contacted Jasper's breeder, found out the mother was expecting, and asked her to reserve a girl for us.  Meanwhile, I had also been emailing her saying that even though earlier in the year I had contacted her to inquire about a little girl, I didn't think it was going to become a reality for our family.  Well, when my birthday came, and Greg, very unexpectedly, gave me a little pink dog tag in a box... my heart was INSTANTLY ready to have my Lexi - pre-named and ready for love... but she wasn't even born yet!  So began the wait.....

Weeks had gone by and we hadn't heard anything from Jasper's breeder who had told us the puppies were due "any day".  I began to do some research with other breeders for female Yorkies who would be ready to go (13-14 weeks) - just in case -when the other litter finally did arrive, there were no girls.

So, on Sunday, we piled the entire family in the car and drove 2 hours to Barnwell "just to look" (yeah, right) to a breeder who had, not one, but THREE litters of Yorkies, ready to go.... JOY!!

And so...
She's HERE!! Meet Lexi!
Here we are in Barnwell, SC at the breeders house  ... puppies EVERYWHERE!

The breeder (in green shirt in back) had 3 litters of Yorkies... all around 3 1/2 months old - ready for love!  The choice was really difficult - they were ALL precious, but after meeting the Yorkie mommies and daddy (he had a harem), we picked out the mom that had the best coloring and chose from her litter.  Lexi was one of 4 girls from the mother, Paris and father, Beijing.

That's Lexi lying down in front of Greg's knee (and her sister, Japan, behind her).

Here's Lex already feeling right at home in the crate on the way back to Charleston.

Jasper and Lexi were fast friends... he took right to her and has been precious with her ever since.

Yes, she is that tiny (that's an apple).  13 weeks 2 lbs

All my precious puppies playing in the crate.
The end of the story is one of the best parts... on the way back home, we finally heard from Jasper's breeder via email that her puppies had been born that morning.  A litter of four..... boys.  :)

I'm so crazy in love with this little ball of fur.  Thank you, GREG!! :)

Yay for Yorkies. We love our little guy - if I could just get him potty trained! Sheesh. Any advice for me?
So glad you finally got your GIRL!!! :))
